Why Agents Are Leaving eXp Realty

Why eXp is Appealing in the First Place

Expert Real Estate (eXp Realty) is a real estate brokerage that was founded in 2009 and has quickly become one of the leading names in the industry. The company is based in Bellingham, Washington, but it operates in all 50 states, as well as internationally.

One of the things that sets eXp Realty apart from other real estate brokerages is its use of technology. The company has developed a proprietary platform called eXp World, which allows agents to connect and collaborate with one another from anywhere in the world. This platform includes tools like virtual meetings, training sessions, and document sharing, which can be accessed via a desktop or mobile app.

Another unique aspect of eXp Realty is its business model. The company operates on a cloud-based model, which means that agents are considered independent contractors and are not required to pay a franchise fee or desk fee. This allows agents to keep a higher percentage of their commissions, which can be a significant advantage in a competitive industry.

In addition to its technological innovations and business model, eXp Realty is also known for its focus on agent support and education. The company offers a variety of training and development programs for its agents, including its eXp University, which provides online courses and coaching sessions. eXp Realty also has a mentorship program for new agents, as well as a leadership development program for experienced agents.

Overall, eXp Realty is a well-respected and innovative company that is changing the way real estate is done. Its use of technology and focus on agent support make it an attractive option for agents looking to take their careers to the next level. If you are considering a career in real estate or are looking to switch brokerages, eXp Realty is definitely worth considering.

Why Are People Leaving eXp Realty?

There are many reasons why people may decide to leave a company, and eXp Realty is no exception. However, it’s important to note that every individual’s experience with a company is unique and may not be representative of the experience of others.

That being said, some common reasons why people may leave eXp Realty include:

  1. Lack of support: Some agents may feel that they are not receiving enough support or guidance from the company, whether it be in terms of training, marketing, or leads.
  2. Disagreement with company policies: It’s possible that agents may disagree with certain policies or practices at eXp Realty, and may decide to leave as a result.
  3. Better opportunities elsewhere: It’s not uncommon for agents to switch brokerages in search of better commission splits, more leads, or a better work environment.
  4. Personal reasons: There may be personal reasons why an agent decides to leave eXp Realty, such as a change in location or a desire to work with a different company.

Ultimately, the decision to leave a company is a personal one and will depend on the individual’s specific circumstances and priorities. If you are considering leaving eXp Realty or any other company, it’s important to carefully weigh the pros and cons and consider what is best for your career and your overall well-being.

I’m going to tell you the BIGGEST reason why I think people are leaving eXp below so keep reading. But first I need to share with you why I didn’t choose eXp Realty when I decided to reactivate my real estate license in 2021.

Why I Didn’t Choose eXp Realty

I created a YouTube Video and I mentioned in the video that I would eventually create a video about why I didn’t choose to sign with eXp Realty. Well, one of the members of my FREE Facebook Group asked me why I haven’t made that video yet.

I still plan to make that video friend, I promise. LOL! But here’s my official response in written form. I didn’t choose eXp and I still haven’t because nobody has been able to show me a team that focuses on apartment locating. I’m an apartment locator and signed with an apartment locating brokerage.

I’ve been approached by several eXp team leaders and they haven’t been able to confirm support for someone like me who only does apartment locating. As a matter of fact, at the time of this blog post I do apartment locating full time from home. That’s not what traditional real estate is about.

So for as much as eXp seems like a great opportunity for experienced agents, who have already grown huge teams; none of those teams are apartment locating specific. AND this part is huge…even though they are a known for technology and being a technology broker they’re still a traditional brokerage.

This means the bulk of their transactions and money is made from traditional buy/sell real estate transactions. I don’t have any interest in traditional real estate anymore since I discovered apartment locating.

The Biggest Reason Why Agents Fail at eXp Realty

All that technology means absolutely nothing if the agents don’t know how or why to use it. I’m a part of several groups on Facebook and just as fast as agents sign up for eXp, they leave. I’ve read the complaints in Facebook groups. And although it’s appealing to align with the ‘new wave’ it can be overwhelming to an agent new to the industry.

I tested out the eXp system because I was given a free look around via one of their agents who was trying to recruit me. I was really impressed by the cloud and even the lead generation tools they have. No matter what company you align with as an agent, you need a steady flow of leads in order to survive the business.

You need to know how to generate leads that you don’t have to pay for. When you learn that valuable skill you don’t have to rely on any brokerage. You will be completely free. That’s what I teach in my courses and why I decided to become a real estate marketing coach.

I used to struggle to generate leads online until I found a company that gave agents leads. But in exchange for getting those leads they took a huge part of my commission. At the end of the day, I ended up taking home 28% of my commission. I eventually left that company.

My life was struggling to get leads, then I was overflowing with leads that I had to pay a premium to get. Something had to give. Then I learned internet marketing!! And now I easily generate 100+ leads a month 24 hours 7 days a week while I’m sleeping. And the best part is, I generate these leads FOR FREE from social media.

Check out MY GUIDE <==right there. I share with you how to do this for yourself.

    Hi Bianca,

very good article and I feel the same way. I only do apartments as well. I need a brokerage that is dedicated to Apartment locating.

Yes! Doing it with an apartment locating brokerage to start is what I think makes a huge difference to my business. My brokerage started off only as an apartment locating brokerage and now they’re expanding out to traditional real estate.
